How can one hold on patience even in the adverse conditions?

Say, when someone unnecessarily give to you without any fault of yours.

  1. Deep breath, start counting from 100 backwards. Get your concentration off of whatever is going on. Then try to leave the situation.
  2. Allow me just a second to re-frame your question. In adverse conditions, how can a person's patience keep going? This is one of the "spiritual gifts" spoken of in the New Testament of the Bible. Patience does not come easily. There are a few people who are able to stretch themselves, and continue on without becoming angry or giving up. Patience comes through practicing it. The adverse conditions the person lives with are actually what gives the patient person the opportunity to grow in that area. Think of a mother with a handicapped child. There is no advantage to her being impatient with him. It only makes things harder for both her and the child. Her patience shows her acceptance, her belief in the child's capabilities, and shows that she values this child desiring the best possible life for him. In her patience with the child she will fiercely defend him, and she will learn to wait - waiting just as long as it takes for the child to learn. I learned patience working with handicapped and mentally ill and with children. Why was I able, or even interested in doing this? I have no idea. But, my teachers saw it in me, and paired me to work with the "slow" ones. I was still there, still going after others had walked off. It was something I learned, but it was also a gift.
